Press On! (10/11/06)

I felt panic last night when I thought about how little time I have left to do my revision before my exam on the 11th Nov. I still have to finish a few more sets of notes. Somehow I knew that I cannot accomplish much even with worrying and panicking. Therefore I tried to cool down and I cried out for help to God and for His peace to reign within my heart. Philipians 4:5-7 appeared obvious to my eyes again, as I sat pondering at my desk.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God and the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

As I woke up this morning, I was so surprised to see the title of the devotion today – Press On! The passage was on Philipiuans 3:13 and the following were the words spoken to me from the text;

“Christians live in freedom because Christ has overcome our past. The ‘old things’ have been done away with and ‘new things’ have come (2 Cor. 5:7). Christians do not forget the past, but we are not controlled or motivated by it. The Christians look to the future with hope… The Christians’ future is so full and rich and exciting that it supersedes whatever happened in the past …
If you are preoccupied with your past, ask God to open your eyes to the incredible future that awaits you and begin … to press on to what is ahead.”

These texts reminded me to put down the fear of the past failure behind and to press on in my current position. I felt God’s peace within my heart and He enabled me to finish reading the notes before midnight. I also felt God’s assurance that He would lead me through it all.
PTL! Hallelujah!
Are you in destress?
Look to God for comfort and peace and He will transcends all understanding
to guard us!
