Making A Difference (3/1/06)

I found myself so alert and difficult to sleep last night. As the big clock in the living room hit its bell at 1 am, I was still awake. Guess should be the thick Chinese tea that I drank in the supper or maybe there was something God wanted to tell me. I took the opportunity to do my devotion reading for today, Dec 3, in the early of the morning. The title for the devotion today was “Making A Difference”.
As I read it through, God spoke some words of encouragement to me personally, through the devotion material.
Would you dare to believe that God, who called you to Himself and equipped you with His Spirit, could work mightily through you? Have you made a connection between the time and place in which you live and God’s call upon you? ...... He placed you precisely where you are for a purpose.
Daniel did not let the temptations of his day interfere with his relationship to the Lord.
Are you allowing God to use you to make a difference in your generation?

These were the words that spoke to me so deeply and personally.

In the supper last night, after the trip back from Ipoh (visiting my grandpa), my auntie, Dr Tan (and uncle are the supper gang/ “kaki”), spoke forth a word into my lives, which was both the answer to my prayer and also a word of encouragement to me. As we shared our situation with them, she told me that (not the actual quotation) God has truly placed me here for a purpose at this time, TO BE A COMPANION TO MY FATHER.
I had been asking God since two days ago whether to follow my dad and keep him a company OR to follow my grandpa and stay with him in Subang Jaya, with my grandma, as he does his body checkup in the hospital.
As I pondered upon this, God spoke forth His answer to me in the supper last night through my auntie – to be a companion to my father at this moment of time. God also assured me of this by letting my dad voiced out his opinion about whom I was to follow – that he wants me to follow him.
I was so touched and grateful, as I was given this opportunity to help and to serve in this “mission”. My auntie also added, “Don’t think that you are not important. Your presence here and your coming back home is important.” These words have given me great encouragement and passion to serve with more love.
After the supper, God again spoke His words of encouragement to me when He spoke to me in the devotion, Making A Difference, early this morning, when I couldn’t sleep.
By then, I made the decision to follow my daddy in the trip and to keep my dad a company, as my mom stayed at home to look after the house this trip.
I truly praise the Lord for speaking to me in a mighty and wonderful way, and also for keeping us strong as we go through this time of trial together. I believed that there is and will be a breakthrough around the corner, as the God of Breakthroughs works in our lives. PTL! Hallelujah!

Part II
I followed my dad to Ipoh in the morning, after breakfast. We went to the hospital to help grandma and grandpa before discharge, with help from Auntie Chooi Ling and Uncle Dar Wen.
After that, we traveled straight to Subang Jaya and, thank God, that we had a smooth journey, although grandpa was having diarrhea. After a 2-hour journey, we met Uncle Cher Wen and Auntie Kelly in Subang Jaya, and had grandpa admitted into the hospital, preparing for a brain scan. Praise the Lord for the smooth processing, and my dad and I left in the evening.
I was grateful to be able to be a companion to dad at this moment. Though not much help I can do, I believe that my presence (being with him by his side) had spoken all that are needed in this moment.
Before we slept at night, I received an SMS from my aunt saying that the scanning had been done and result showed that everything was OK. I praised the Lord for this favorable result and I believe there are more blessings and breakthroughs and favors in the days ahead of us. PTL!
