Morning “Wake Up” Call (12 Nov 2005)

I had been awaken up early in the morning a few days ago (4 days ago), which I ignored the first one (I was feeling a bit hot-also in the second one), but at the second morning, I remembered someone told me before that God can call a person up early in the morning to speak to them. So I woke up that second morning, at 4.20 am, and did my daily devotion. After that I went back to bed again. Before sleep at the same night, still unsure if it was a call from God, I asked Him to show me if it’s His will and call, wake me up again the next morning. But I slept through the night that day. Still feeling unsatisfied, I did the same prayer again that night before sleep. This time I was awaken by hiccups at about 6am. I was very sure that this was His call this morning. After having a sip of water to relief the hiccups, I did my devotion and went to bed again after that.
Before I sleep last night, I did the same prayer again and asked God to wake me up if He wants to speak to me. I added this prayer before I sleep, “Speak, Lord. Here I am, ready to listen to what you are saying.”
This morning, I was again wakened up by hiccups, at about the same time as the second morning, at 4.25 am. As I flipped over to Asian Notes Volume 3, over to today’s reading, I saw the title across the page again-The Meciful Wake-Up Call. I was overjoyed and excited as I started to read through the page-Weak, Yet Faithful. Today’s scripture devotion was taken from Revelation 3:7-13. As I read through the short passage, I felt the heavy presence of the Lord around me and I also felt like He was speaking this passage to me, personally.
7What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. 8I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name…..
10Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world, to test those who live on the earth. 11I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. 12Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will I leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name.
As I read through the passage, these words spoke into my heart so deeply and my body was also shivering (maybe in cold) and shaking. As I tried to put on my jacket, the shaking turned to my feet and the shaking continued through until I finish reading this reading in Revelation. As I recalled through, I was very sure that it was the presence of the Lord that makes my body shake.
This was the explanation given following the passage from the Bible;
….. And if they were to persevere in their endurance, their future would be bright and the rewards for their faithfulness beyond compare…… If you are numbered with the majority, be sensitive to the needs of the minority, especially the small minorities in our multi-ethnic society. Pray that our church will reflect the multi-ethnic mix in our society.
Lord, teach me how to become a bridge-builder across ethnic groups living in my neighborhood.

The shaking stopped after I’ve finished reading through this page and the passage. As I turned into the next two readings in Ezekiel 1-3 and Hebrew 9, I can still fell that God was speaking through these passages.
Ezekiel 9:27-28 Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
As I read through Ezekiel, I found that the name means “God is (or makes) strong” and he was a priest and a prophet of the Lord.
Wow! He is truly a great and mighty God, who speaks and hears and answers.
Today’s experience really gave me a great encouragement to persevere and to strive forward in every areas of my lives, be it study, spiritual growth, my future and all the other areas as well. I was also reminded to stand firm and strong in the Lord, preparing to receive the reward of my salvation and also to have compassion to reach out to the lost and to all the peoples, also to pray for people and the lost.

I truly hope these scriptures and these testimonies will speak forth to you as well, as you read this through. If you can, please read through the passages that I read through as well.
Hope God will show you and speak to you as well.
Please be strong and to persevere in the Lord as well, so that He will place an open door in your life as well. I also pray that He will make you a bridge-builder as well.
Do you know Jesus and His salvation and love?
Are you ready for His coming?
