What are Your Expectation? (4/8/06)

In my prayer last night before I sleep, I asked the Lord to prepare my heart well for an encounter and fellowship with Him tomorrow. As the Life Group will be on tomorrow, I prayed that He would speak to me mightily in the LG and also in my devotion tomorrow....... A Heart of Expectation.
As I did my devotion this morning, God spoke into my heart through the devotion book, titled, Clean Hands; a Pure Heart. The message that spoke to me was recorded in my daily Growth Diary and are as follow:
Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord?
Or Who may stand in His holy place?
He who has a clean hands and a pure heart.
Psalm 24:3-4a
The closer you get to holy God, the more obvious even your smallest sins become. The more you know of God's character, the more you will realize the need to wash your hands and purify your heart before you cand get close to Him.
In addition to these word spoken in my devotion, God also spoke to me when I was reading this book "The Root of Rejection" by Joyce Meyer and the words are as follows:
Make every effort to LIVE IN PEACE WITH ALL MEN and TO BE HOLY;
Without holiness, no one will see the Lord.
See to it that no one misses the grace of GOd and that NO BITTER ROOT GROWS UP TO CAUSE TROUBLE AND DEFILE MANY.
In this passage, God spoke to me about forgiveness..... that I need to forgive ppl in order to approach Him with boldness and purity. And also such unfirgiveness will develop into bitterness and will affect many other people if it's not dealt with asap.
When I went to LG at night, the same topic was being discussed.... about purity of heart and the how to have continual access to God's throne (our attitude). Again God spoke the message to me and they are related to my devotion this morning. The Bold words in the passages above are the few that was discussed tonight and that spoke into my heart.
Through all these, God also showed me another 'secret' to His work in every situation and occasion, that is, THE HEART OF EXPECTATION. I really believe now the power of expectation. Indeed, we can pray with faith and can expect Him to do something in our lives and in every occasion.
What is your expectation today?
Are you expecting Him to work in your life and your situation?
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, lut us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles,
and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfector of our fatih.
(Hebrews 12:1,2a)
